A couple of years ago I went to visit Turkey and I discovered one of the most beautiful and charming village I have ever seen, it was called Kaleköy (literally “Castle’s village” in Turkish and Simena in ancient Lycian), in the Antalya Province, on the Mediterranean coast.
The village lies amidst a Lycian necropolis, which is partially sunken underwater. Kaleköy is overlooked by a Byzantine castle, built in the Middle Ages to fight the pirates which nested in Kekova.
We arrived this village by sea, in a turkish gulet (A “GULET” is the typical Turkish wooden motor sailing yacht). It was an extraordinary experience that I would highly recommend. Wake up at the break of dawn rocking on the deck of a wooden cruise and see this view when opening your eyes… What a privilege.
